Got a strange question about an oil leak. I was out 4X4ing with some friends on the weekend (D40's & R51's) and one car ended up with an oil leak from the timing cover. It looked like it was coming from the front seal. The leak seems to have stopped and the oil level is still full and there was always only a small amount of oil that leaked.

So the question is, is it at all posable that after some steep decents that the oil level in the timing cover could have risen and some oil weped pasted the front seal?
While I relise there is always oil in the front cover, I don't think it is a lot during normal operation.

Has anyone ever seen this happen?

Not me. I've seen the charge air hose leak and spray oil on my own timing cover (got the EGR valve as well, but my leak was near the hose clamp on the intake join).
