    Of Meetings And Trips

Hahahaha. Wondering who that could have been? While I was pretty confident, it took a fair bit of courage in case I was wrong and sounded like some sort of weirdo. The missing IPF 800's put me off a little.

    D40 Oil filter alternative

Genuine D40 Oil filters are made by Mann Filters and the part number is 920/48. Often the Mann 920/48 can be purchased online cheaper than the Nissan part and may be painted blue or black. Attached is the Genuine Nissan filter with Mann part number.

    Who said D40's are soft?

Found this D40 in a car park recently. Not one straight panel, broken glass, twisted tray and an interior to die for! The photos really don't do it justice. Hope it doesn't belong to anyone on here :o

Injector Cutoff - Do D40 injectors turn off on deceleration?

After 2 years I have finally got around to properly calibrating the Ultragauge. One of the things it will factor into the consumption calculations is injector cutoff. Some manufacturers will turn off injectors on deceleration and I was wondering if anybody is aware of whether the D40 does this...

Power chip - DTUK/DTE PDI Pulse Modulation System

I haven’t been that keen on a chip but towing the van while trying to get reasonable economy has meant trying to stay in overdrive which can be very difficult and often too slow. I convinced myself during the last holiday to take the plunge but didn’t want to mess with rail pressure which meant...

Tanami Pumps - Anyone tried one?

There is a topic under the advertising section of the forum about Tanami Pumps which dates back to 2010. Not really good form to ask the question there I figured. Anyway we recently we went on a trip to some fairly remote areas and took 3 x jerry cans of diesel and another with unleaded for the...

    Satellite Phone Subsidy Scheme

Not sure if anybody is aware or interested but the Satellite Phone Subsidy Scheme was to cease as of 30.6.13 but has been extended until 30.6.14. http://www.minister.dbcde.gov.au/media/media_releases/2013/073 Good news for those that plan on taking an extended trip to outback areas without...

Tigerz11 and Roo Systems baned from the Melbourne 4x4 show

Read this elsewhere and thought it might be worthy of discussion. Roothy was a firm believer in buying the quality Australian product but things have changed. Is choice good or are we all screwing ourselves out of jobs buy buying the cheap imported stuff? Maybe the big boys had it too good...

    What ever happened to Northside?

Anybody know what ever happened to Lindsay from Northside? Not that I had ever gone to their website before but it says "Jamie and Leon are joint partners" and the business has recently moved. No mention of Lindsay and he has not posted on here since last year. Sticky beak hey?

    Plug for ARB Thomastown

Lucky me got a winch for Christmas which was not supplied by ARB. Needed some longer bolts but of course none of the bolt shops are open this time of year. Dropped into ARB Thomastown today and they gave me bolts, a winch control box bracket and some other bits and pieces. Despite knowing that...

    UltraGauge - Anybody have/tried one?

Has anybody used an UltraGauge in a D40? http://www.ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/index.htm They seem to do everything the Scangauge 11 does & maybe a bit more. They appear smaller & are available with a windscreen mount, although the mount is currently out of stock until the end of the month...

    ARB price list

ARB price list & I must admit I pinched the link from elsewhere. I must also warn that it is the 2009 list which I discovered after printing the 119 pages. Still it might give you an idea of price but it is of course nowhere near as juicy as the dealer price list we momentarily has access to a...

Do bigger tyres really affect economy?

Will going from 265/70/16 to 265/75/16 have a detrimental affect or a possibly a positive affect to economy? To drive economically in the D40, top speed needs to be limited to just over 90kph which is at times a little embarrassing & often frustrating. Over 2000rpm it is said that fuel economy...

    Pressure washers

Christmas coming up & quite unselfishly I'm thinking of presents for myself. I reckon a pressure washer might be on the cards but I know sweet bugger all about them. Without spending silly amounts of money, are there any suggestions as to what features I should I be looking for? Alternatively...

    Are your nuts tight?

Unless you tow with a Hayman Reese Weight Distribution Hitch, read no further. This is a warning regarding proper tightening of the bolts in the adjustable WDH. I read on a caravan forum of 2 caravan owners using a Hayman Reese WDH which failed due to a bolt in the adjustable cam section...

    Is this an unusual canopy?

I saw this yesterday & it is something I had not seen before. I felt a bit of a dick taking the photo & had a quick closer inspection. I saw a name but immediately forgot what it was (SUV Options????). Maybe it is more common than I think? I hope the owner is not a forum member because he...
