YD25 injector pump replacement

So my injector pump is noisy under load or high rpm's and I'm looking to swap it out for a reco unit. Has anybody done the swap before? Can it be completed without removing the timing chains? Factory service manual is a bit vague with the process.

I can't say yeh-or-nah, but would be immensely surprised if you could do it without removing the sprocket and-or the timing chain.

It can be done without removing the lower timing chain BUT if the pump is that bad the chains must be near the end of their life. You may as well do the duplex chain modification while you're in there.

Top chain is easy enough to take off, but I've done the dual chain conversion conversion about 6 months ago. I pretty much want to avoid having to remove the bottom timing chain cover and oil pump.
