Do they have a pre cleaner. i know on the 99-2001 hilux unless you modded the precleaner it did the same thing. toyota even did a recall to fix it but it only half worked

@ kade , it's shocking isn't it !!!! At 80 ks in 4th and 100 ks in fith it vibrates like u wouldn't believe!!! To the point were its unbareable to drive

Its disappointing, I am considering sacrificing the dual battery space and going to a after market snorkel to see if that will stop it, got to try it without the head on first, ill do that shortly and report back ;)

he means under the bonnet...

no, the 2.5 d22's don't have a pre cleaner, the space where it was fitted on the old ones had a 2nd battery in the thai built ones, but just an empty space in the jap built ones...

Update for u all, after being told by the dealer they would call in a weeks time after they had spoke to Nissan about the warranty issues what do u think happend ?.... You Guest it nothing , so I called the dealer , 3 times ... 3 times they didn't return my call !!!!!! So fuck them I went and called Nissan Australia ,turns out they they had not even contacted Nissan about the warranty issues. So I lodged a complaint with Nissan and gues what ??? The dealer returned my call and are being ever so helpful now . I have to take the nav back this Friday so a specialist technition ( apparently) can go over the truck with me and inspect all the problems...

This afternoon i disconnected the snorkel and the vibration is gone , hook it up again and it vibrates the shit out of the vehicle ....... So it is definitely a snorkel issue . On inspection the pipe from the filter housing back along the inner guard is tiny and extremely restrictive .

How did you go mate???

double check that the mount for the airbox is bolted to the body properly. sounds dumb I know but i fitted a snorkel to mine on the weekend and it vibrated like crap even at idle, the bolt was loose tightened it walla prob solved. doubt thats it for you but worth a quick check

hey guys had the same problem took it back and its a common problem the wall or installation in the air box comes loose they put two extra bolts in it never heard or felt the vibration again. but i didnt think it would vibrate that much even enough to vibrate through the dash i thoughy for sure engine but nope just the air box

Far out, now I got to rewrite my reply, server cut out, anyway, cheers guys was thinking I might try a load strap over the air box to take the slack and see if that makes any difference, would you guys have a pic of these bolts? Are they the ones on the outside holding it too the wall or inside the box? Got it booked in for the 22nd to have another head scratch at it..

On a brighter note, getting a terrain tamer lift fitted the day after ;)

Can you explain that a bit better. just dont quiet get what you mean.
I installed a non genuine snorkel and am getting a very slight vibration at certain rev not enough to worry me but it.does seem to be getting worse as time goes by

Hi guys , still waiting on my nav to be fixed . The latestest update is that I have to take it to a panel shop so they can quote Nissan on respraying the chassis , the dealer here is blaming the dealer I bought it of for the tub liner being crooked as they say it's a fit ment issue . The tub is still on the chassis crooked and they even tried blaming the dealer I purchased it of saying they fitted it wrong. ( they arrive fitted to the dealer) and the vibration they still haven't fixed. I'm waiting to here when they want the truck back to have a 3rd go at it... The vibration is definitely the snorkel at 2500 rpm

Hope you get ur tub sorted, mine goes into the shop on the 22nd to get the vibration looked at for the second time, different workshop though, there are some comments in here about it being caused by the airbox, I had a look today and it has got some flex, ill update if they have some success ;)

Did u have any luck mate????

Did u have any luck mate????

No luck here, just a wasted day of head scratching, got a couple tricks of my own to try out later, let ya know if I jag it

on a brighter note, got a terrain tamer 2 inch lift fitted, the ride is a lot better but yer, the vibration is still letting it down

Did u have any luck mate????

Hey mate had a small bit of luck yesterday, I took the three mounting rubbers off the airbox and bolted it straight on with the same bolts that held the rubber mounts in place, it made a big difference and the vibration in the roof is now gone, still a small vibration at 2500 RPM.

Next party trick is to go to a performance shop and try and source a more flexible hose for the airbox to the motor, I think its that causing the noise and then it sends it up the snorkel like a megaphone, by the time it gets to the top of the snorkel it is a vibration that goes through the mounting on the top of the snorkel through the roof, thats my theory, im no scientist though ;)
