I have a 2012 Outlaw that has developed an issue with the automatic transmission. This happened without warning and had been driving perfectly the day before. When selecting D you I feel the jolt of the transmission engaging but when I try to pull away it's as if the clutch is slipping severely. Any pointer gratefully received.

Sounds like the torque converter is slipping. This data is available through a workshop diagnostic tool (including percentage slip). That's where I'd look first.

How long since the transmission has been serviced (oil change or even checked)?

It's just coming up to 60k miles so due first service. I've checked oil level and that is ok
