Hi everyone I've been stalking the form for a while now got some good info here for a D I Y er like me.
I have a 2004 nav with a zd30 in it I haven't had it for too long and its been like this since I got it. The first issue is it uses a lot of fuel like getting 400km to 450km to a tank mind you it only does short trips to and from work about 8km x2 a day. When i take it on a longish trip i will get around close to 500km to a tank.
Is this normal or is something up ? The main reason I got a diesel was to get 500km 600km to a tank.
The next issue is after a run a second or so after I shut of I get what sounds like a flash of flame down the exhaust or manifold no bang ! That's the best I can describe the sound as a flash of flame.
Just seeing if anyone knows what could be causing this ?
The last issue is that there is a strong smell of diesel when running.
I don't know if the issues are related or not just after some ideas to start from. I am a big D I Y er but this is my first diesel and I'm a bit lost.
fuel filter is under 6000km old and oil and oil filter was done under 1000km ago. I've got consult 2 to usb cable and have had it hooked up to a laptop and found no fault codes just the accelerator full throttle switch is turn on half way down giving me full throttle at that spot and n.p.s. is dickey when the heat switch is on the rev's don't always go up I have to play with the gear stick to get it to stay at 1200rpm.

Shit also to my knowledge egr has not been done I will be doing it , accelerator pedal and the N.P.S. in the next few weeks.
