Hi All,

I live in Australia and I am looking to buy a Navara D22 STR 3l diesel with approx 60000km on the clock. I have heard many mixed reports about the Navaras and their engines and faults so am not really sure what to believe. I reckon that they are a top lookoing truck that should perform really well. My friend has never had any issues with his car. I am looking at using it for city use and a little bit of beach work as I am a keen fisherman.

I guess I want to hear from Navara owners about their experiences with this model of Navara.

I have heard that the engines cease if they are pushed too hard as they stress easily. Is this the case? What are the engines like? What are their faults?

What are they like on fuel consumption?

A ballpark figure on installing a lockable fibreglass canopy on the tray would be great if anyone has done it.

Looking forward to hearing some reports , good or bad.

Cheers

If you mean Australind near Bunbury, you could take a look at this:
It has all the mods you will probably end up doing. The big one is the intercooler. Should you have a turbo failure, this will protect your motor from getting lunched. Good luck in find a Navara. They are an awesome, reliable ute with excellent fuel economy.

For Sale: (PERTH)
2005 Nissan Navara STR top of the range, fully optioned (Blue/Silver)
3l Turbo diesel, 5 spd manual, 99 000kms

Bullbar, sidesteps, tow bar, tonneau cover, tub liner, snorkel, intercooler (installed April 2010), DGas (installed Dec 08 ), 2 1/2 inch exhaust from the turbo back (installed Dec 08 ), diesel power module (installed June 09), spotlights, 2 inch lift with Ironman load helper springs, tint, electric windows, electric mirrors, boost and egt guage.

16x8 Performance alloy storm rims with Cooper ST Tyres. Also comes with stock alloy rims and tyres.

Economy: 8 - 9.5l diesel per 100km + 1 - 2l gas per 100km
This vehicle has been offroad twice and only on the beach.

Reason for selling: I just don't have a need for the 4x4. Looking at going back to a 2wd.

This would be perfect for someone who is wanting to go 4x4. Everything has been done. There is over $10 000 worth of mods already done to this ute that you wouldn't have to do. It has been serviced every 5000kms with oil filter and new oil (Caltex Delo Gold - still have a 20l drum and will go with this ute) and fuel filter every 10000km. Gearbox, diff oils and coolant have been done every 40000km.

$29 500 ono
