Slow progress on the D22, Ironman having supply issues and the rain won't stop to give me a couple of days of good weather.

* Battery Tray in,
* Radios ans Inside Accessories Wiring going in
* Radio's in

Why the numerous radio's?

All Amateur radios - the two handhelds are UHF & VHF Amateur Handhelds and the Mobile is a UHF/VHF Dual Band Mobile.

The hand Handheld's docks are hocked up to power when needed, that way the Batteries are always charged and on trickle charge ready for use. The UHF Handheld usually gets a full days (6hrs) use every Sunday.

time to get that thing a bit dirty mate! No suspension on the list.....

Jacko,

Compared to my SsangYong Dual Cab 4wd I had, which I did not have to much issues 4wd'ing with, the D22 has more higher ground clearance and better suspension as standard then what the old SsangYong did after a suspension upgrade, so I don't see myself having too many issues with the D22 for the places I frequent regally and places I want to visit in the near future.

My main concern will be getting myself out of issues when no other 4WD's are around, that's why a winch is more of a priority then what a suspension upgrade is right now, maybe further down the track once I have the D22 up to the standard (home made storage system etc) as what the SsangYong was, but that will be more towards the end of the year at the rate this bloody rain is holding up things.

Getting accessories on this thing has been a slow process sadly.

Been waiting on a Canopy for over two months and as of last week when my Nav was booked in to have the Canopy fitted for the second time . . . it still had not turned up, still sitting on the Melbourne docks after 4 weeks, unknown when customs will release the container . . . not news I wanted to hear.

well so the order was canceled and a ARB Canopy ordered in its place and should be in store on the 16th ready for fitting onto my Narvara on the 18th . . . here's hoping

Worse of all, have missed out on work due to the lack of a canopy, as I can't secure equipment from theft nor the weather, money lost that would have gone towards paying for a bullbar by now.

At lest I got the bushplates on :) and the Sports bar is off awaiting the fitting of the canopy.

Well another spear day, so a little more work done on the New Nav.

All 4 Door's now connected up to Door switches, so now we have light when all 4 doors are opened . . . yea. 3 door switches from Central Coast 4x4 wreckers = $30, wire and connectors = $10, grand total of $40 all up, very happy.

Also had got into running power to the Tub and connecting up a power box in the tub for accessories. Not as sophisticated as some of the others jobs I have seen on here, just a nice and simple accessories power switch box using a pre-wired switch panel from Bias Discount Boat Warehouse that will provide switching power for:
* Canopy Internal Lights
* Fridge outlet
* Spear outlet
* Cigarette Power Plug Outlet

as you add weight with mods the suspension just wont cope
after 20k my springs were inverted and all 4 shocks rooted and all 4 tyres worn out (thanks nissan)
and this was with tray only,no mods and no heavy loads and only a few runs up the beach fishing

Don't tell me that Sparra,

I will admit, suspension upgrade is on the list, but was hoping I would not need to look at it for 18months to 2 years, when funds are more easily available.

sorry mate
add a winch and your t/bars will be at there limit
factor in the sus upgrade early and you wont regret it
your factory tyres will be rooted after 20k and theres not much you can do about it.very soft (cheap )compound

At long last, after 2 1/2 months I finally have my Canopy & Rhino Rack fitted.

Just need to fit-up some lights and a couple of antenna's and I am right . . . for a couple of months before I see the need to play some more :)

Hi All,

Well this morning I dropped the Navara off to have a Mongoose M60 Car Security System fitted. The System has a in-built Turbo Timer, Remote Central Locking and the Tub/Canopy is protected by a Microwave Sensor.

The Security System was all installed and ready for pick up by 2pm, so once home I also hooked up the internal LED Light Strip to the Switch Box in the Tub, and fitted a 'Car Voltage Meter / In-Out Thermometer / Clock' from JayCar to the Fridge's Power Circuit/Switch, so now when the fridge is turned on and running I can see from the Tub's rear what the remaining voltage of the Battery is and the inside temperature is in the fridge compartment.

So to date the following has been fitted or installed into my new D22:
As time permits over the next month:

* Icom 208H Amateur Radio - 'Done'
* UBCD396XT Scanner with UBC-RH96 remote Head - 'Done'
* Portable Radio Charching Docks - 'Done'
* Mobile Phone Kit - 'Done'
* GPS Street/Off-road System - 'Done'
* Tow Bar - 'Done'
* ARB Canopy/Roof Bars & Basket - 'Done'
* Dual Battery System - 'Done'
* Temp Storage System in - 'Done'
* Under-body protection plates - 'Done'
* Assessory (12v) Switch box installed - 'Done'
* Canopy camp lights installed - 'Done'
* Security System (Incl - Central Locking/Turbo Timer) installed - 'Done'

Slowly getting there :)

It's been busy this past month for me, starting on the 18th May heading down to Albury and then heading off on a 3 weeks Simpson Desert Trip with my Stepfather . . . what a trip :), got to see the Simpson ,when Dry and when Wet and flooding, one extreme to the other . . . it was great

Oh yea . . . Big Red . . . with all the rain . . . up in 2WD . . .

Did not take the Nav on the Simpson Trip, but already looking at making the trip back to the Simpson with the Wife and the Nav in a couple of years time, plenty of time to get it and the wife ready for such a trip :)

And then this past weekend attended 'Sydney Off Road Racing Association (SORRA)' Round 4 - 2012 Race Meet at Colo Park on Putty Road as the Meet's 'Medic' and as a Recovery Team Member.

Now . . . now back to normal life and the job's around the house the wife has lined up :)
