D40 Recall for Alloy Wheels

Just opened some mail and a new recall for the D40.

They are replacing all the alloy wheels due to potential cracks occurring on the spokes under heavy load and cornering.

I have a 2007 Spanish built STX with the 5 spoke alloys, i would have thought all the wheels were made in the same place??

Hopefully the new wheels are the newer design of the current STX, much nicer than the 5 spoke

Any one else got this recall notice?

There has been maybe 3 other threads on this so far and yeah a few of us have got the letter
I dare say it will be the same design

I got my letter to. It'll probably take 12mths to get the rims up here the Pilbara

mines going in on friday get some shiny new wheels mine are scratched up from going bush lol

No they will check your wheels and you only get new units now if yours are cracked. Uncracked wheels will get replaced further down the track

Are they refering to specific year/ models as I haven't seen anything yet.

What are the hazards?
If the vehicle continues to be driven, the crack may propagate around the other wheel spokes. This condition is expected to create a change in the vehicle handling, however, should this condition be ignored it could in extreme cases lead to wheel detachment.
What are the defects?
In certain rare instances where the vehicle is used under full load conditions and cornering at high lateral acceleration, a crack may occur on the spoke of the alloy wheel.

What should consumers do?
Nissan will contact owners of potentially affected vehicles by mid June 2011 to inform them of this recall and request each owner to contact their Nissan dealer to arrange for their alloy road wheels to be inspected and replaced free of charge as required.

hi everyone the recall letter says
if any rims are cracked all will be replaced immediately if not the will all be replaced when nissan has enough stock
