old tonys always on the ball!

thanks malicious for the kind words....the filter could also be cleaned with something like diesel or kero etc

no other media should be needed inside pirate ...there stainless mesh is finely woven and as malicious said there is heaps of layers.

No need for thanks ,
you sell a good product with fantastic service ,
kero would work fine any sort degreaser really, I just have a heap of wax and grease remover.
Just drained mine again after a hard flogging and wow there was some oil in the drain this time about 20ml , pulled the the filter dry on the outside , intake pipes clean gave it a rinse again .
Have noticed an increase in oil being caught closer to 5000k from oil change.

The three predominant factors that affect the amount of oil are:

Sump oil level - try to maintain it marginally below "FULL"
Piston ring/bore condition - the worse they are, the more gas escapes
Engine RPM and load - the harder it is to push the piston, the more gas can escape past the rings

There are other issues that can do it, for instance having the coolant leak into the sump, or a leaking injector seal in a D40 which will cause diesel fuel to be pushed into the sump, mixing with the sump oil and raising the oil level. This is highly dangerous, as it could cause diesel run-on.
