G'day all. I just posted in another thread first so I thought I had better say hello here also and post my first question.
I actually wanted to thank everyone who has posted meaningful stuff on here. It has helped me make a decision reading the good, the bad and the ugly on these things. It is one thing to drive a brand new demo a couple of k's down the road but doesn't really simulate owning one and dealing with issues that arise.
I am after performance, but cannot justify the price of a 550 (or the wait for one) for what is essentially a $15k premium over the 2.5 for an engine and trans. Besides, I am getting into one of these because of my lifestyle anyway and I am sick of spending money on cars...... Here come the mods the price of a Toyota with a four speed auto and no power is just unreal. I couldn't buy one of those ugly Tritons but same deal with no power. My mate has a BT50 and it is a piece of shi.... I borrow it occasionally. About to be superseded as you know anyway and not too soon! But can't wait for the new ones. I would have bought an Amorok it there was an auto available! And if they are smart enough one day to shoehorn in the V6 diesel out of the toerag.
So the Nissan got the gong.
So, I bought an auto diesel STX in flame red yesterday which gets delivered first week in July. It's on the docks somewhere now. Nudge bar, mats, tow bar all the little things. I'm not a hardcore offroader nor do I want to be. At worst, beach and getting to mates motocross tracks which are built in some funky places.
So I have a couple of questions, the first of which will certainly make a few people chuckle......
I don't actually want or need to carry 800 odd kilo's in the tray and the ute will spend the majority of it's time on the black stuff. So, to make it ride nicer I was actually thinking of taking a leaf out of the rear springs. Question is, which one? Thought I might ask you guys before I ask a suspension specialist. Everyone is raising theirs and I want to make mine a little softer. I don't want to just add weight to the tray, no point in wasting performance/braking on artificial weight.
Crap, I forgot the second question.........
