Yeah but the problem with Tony's "wireless" is that he still thinks it's used to pick up Lawsy on the AM band.

Thats interesting. Most of the exchanges down here are down to donor pairs.

iiNET just installed there own equipment in the Newcastle, Maitland and Central Coast areas about 6 months ago. They finally comissioned there equipment on the Central Coast the other day and a few Newcastle sites.

Maitland Exchange should be next.

I haven't seen Telstra install any new Isam's in this area in like 2 years.

At a guess, Id say they just installed ADSL 2 cards in the AM31 system in your exchange.

However who knows, Telstra do some odd things.

Might of even put a ISAM in.

Most of the Cabinets are full down here to. Telstra wont put anymore in as the competition jump on straight away and fill the cabinets with there customers.

To be honest, I dont blame Telstra for not spending the money when there getting screwed over.

Yeah, my understanding was that Telstra weren't installing ADSL into any more exchanges. Our little tin shed exchange down the road was next off the list to get ADSL about 2 years ago, when Telstra announced they wouldn't put any more in due to the NBN coming along. Needless to say we're not even on the 3 year roll out for NBN so I'm stuck on wireless and pretty pissed off with the whole process. The speed is fine, but the limited download per month is really limiting. Anti-competitive socialist one size fits all piece of crap (the NBN that is)

It'll be the only telecommunications network in this country for 3 decades that has an inbuilt above inflation price rise. I can't believe they're getting away with it.

Something else to think about when voting for the idiot Tony Abbott. He wants to bring in shitty wireless.

No he doesn't, that's crap. It's just that in this case the coalition actually have a reasonably sophisticated policy, that can't be spelled out as a 3 word slogan, which takes some people by surprised. Must have something do with having Turnbull in charge of that folio.

It's closer to what Rudd originally wanted to do. Fibre to the node (which is a hell of a lot cheaper than fibre to the home), and then the market and the public can decide how much they want to spend on their home connection. 25% plus will not choose any wired connection and stick to wireless, another big proportion will be happy with ADSL over existing copper for years to come, particularly with a much improved backbone network, some will want to pay for fibre, and then those that have the dosh can pay for it, which reduces demand and speeds up the whole implementation.

It also cuts the demand for fibre installers, brings down wages to a more reasonable level, and means that everyone gets faster internet earlier and more cheaply.

It also means a much reduced likelihood of any monopoly market being set up.

Everyone's a winner (except for some fibre installers and Mr Quigley).

That's true, even clever cookie Tony knows "wireless" is only one word.

His wife and kids are, especially after he brought them an iron and ironing board and reminded them what their role in life was.

The (Spring)Borg does his own ironing. Without a shirt on too. On National TV. WOuld that get your vote?

Pamela Anderson could do her ironing with no shirt on (a bag over her head and cork in her mouth) and I wouldn't vote for her, so ironing topless is not a vote winner for me.

Isn't policies just the term they use because calling them "Promises I plan to break when elected" would not win votes?

Now if only all the other pollies did the same thing, we could replace them with preschoolers and no one would notice any change.
