winch on top of tray back

Hi all, I have a d22 with an alloy tray on which has been fitted a heavy steel frame with soft sided canopy and an ally roof. I have been told that you should be able to fit a small elec. winch to the forward end of the top of the tray back just above the cab of the car in order to pull a boat up from behind.
Has anyone got a similar setup and can you help with pics etc? Or any alternative suggestions on where to mount my winch?

The theory sounds fine, as there is not a lot of strain on recoving a boat (if its on a full roller trailer).

You will still need to make sure that its mounted very securerly - a braced steel bracket fixed down to the chasis (not just to the AL deck of the tray)

+1 on solidly fixing the framework.

An idea on the winch - conceal it underneath the tray and just run the cable up to a pulley at the top of the framework.
