Acceleration whining

my zd30 seems to do the same it makes a squealing noise as i hit 3000rpm (shift point) and only started doin it since i removed the big muffler and ive only got 120k`s on the car

depending on how bad it is ........what your describing is fairly normal.
its just the turbo winding up to high rpm. your just hitting max boost and egr butterfly is turning off. so your on that nice little power band from 3000 rpm to 3500 rpm.
with main muffler removed your now hearing the noise the turbo makes.
