Hi all!
I am a complete newbie to this site, and 4wd in general, and I'm after a bit of advice.
After months of searching for a solid 4x4 Ute, I am seriously considering a d22, between 04-06, around 150k on the clock. Main reason is these fall into my price range.
I have read on different forums that these are good motors, which can also suffer from expensive things going wrong! And that a few mods will help keep the car in good health for its life under my care. (ie catch cans?? Breathers?? I don't know??)
Can anyone point out what I:
Definitely should have on it,
Definitely should put on it if it doesn't have it,
What things I should look out for when buying one to make sure it won't (or at least reduce the risk of) crap out on me and spend the next six months in the garage while I save up to buy the replacement thing that crapped out.
I will mainly be using it for work, so be able to carry my tools to and from the city and suburbs, with occasional rough roads, and once a month or so, off camping to off road terrains, fishing etc and be good to carry my famine around in.
I know that I wont one with uprated suspension/tyres, bull bar, tow pack and possibly a canopy, after that ill se how I go.
I know that this may be a topic covered many times over, but if anyone could lend their patience and wisdom, it would be very much appreciated!
Look forward to your comments/ advice.
Cheers
