So I'm in the U.S at the moment for a couple of weeks..been thru L.A ,Vegas and im down in Miami now.
loving the d40/frontier presence here but I can't stop noticing the Titans everywhere.not sure on their specs but they seem pretty tuff, V8,good size tray and cab.what i wanna know is where is my Aussie V8 nissan truck? Sure the V6 is a great bus but you can't beat a V8.
 
its just like the f250, toyota tundra, most manufacturers wont bring the larger models of trucks in, i beleive it has something to do with the beloved government and their taxes making it not profitable to bother

just my theory, cause i want a dodge ram
 
Who can afford to run them in Australia? There nice don't get me wrong but no where near suited to the Australian economy!
 
They seem like a great truck with a 5.6l quad cam jobbie under the hood.
Last year over there I spotted a few even saw one in a dealer yard while walking down for a feed. I felt nausious when I saw the price, 3 year old low miles and just chock a block full of goodies. 17.5 grand! At that price who cares about fuel consumption. which wouldn't be light.

Be nice to import a couple of them. Although like Connaught my first choice would be Dodge Ram. Even met an Aussie bloke over there doing just that.
 
love that truck! in my country we get the tundra, f150, silverado and ram but no titans.. sad they're just produced for the North American market..

I was in the US a couple of weeks ago and was able to take one for a drive.Lets just say I wish we could get them here.It drove well but I am not going to pay $90k plus to own one here when you can get the top of the line nodel for about $40-45k in the US

5.7l mate...check out the badge, check out Toyota USA web

they start at about $27K on the road in UTAH..I checked out the local Toyota dealer when I was there last year

talking about the titan or tundra because they both have different engines afaik.

Anyway we don't get them here for the same reason americans don't get the things like the 3.0 hilux, manufacturers for whatever reason think its a niche market and Americans do love their V8's and big 6's so its probably right. Same with over here even though fuel is pretty cheap atm everyone just wants more efficient cars, me I'd like a V8 diesel, best of both worlds :truck:
 
it drives me mental in this country that we as a group of consumers are forced to pay as much money as we are for (more or less) the exact same vehicle in that in North America is as much as 1/3 the price

locally there is a 'specialist' dealer here selling a 2012 Camaro rss for 120k, i know i can buy a brand new SS camaro for 38k in the US

this applies to most vehicles, and lets not get started on the used car market, a 10 year old F250 is NOT worth 50 grand in North America, but apparently it is here

also this applies to all things, looking at the news with Itunes USA vs itunes AU

compare prices on the snap-on.com website to the snap-on.ca and the snap-on.com.au websites

i blame the government, it must be duties and taxes that causes this, that or just overly restrictive trading practices

this is why i shop online, just in principle to not get bent over the table for something i would like to buy
 
Just like I can buy a twin pack of smokes at a servo here in L.A for like $6 US.....Marlboro reds but there smokes
 
Tarrifs have been hugely reduced over the years on motor vehicles. I think the price gouging is from the importers not so much from the goverment. The dealers don't make much on a newie. Not on sale price anyway.

Some of it is complying with Australian ADR's it's just not worth it for some manufactures to export here, our market is so small. Having said that there is a greater range of vehicles here than there ever use to be- at a price.

There is no way i would pay 100G for a new Tundra (there ugly anyway) or Titan but there is some woodies out there that will.

As for other gear, same thing again, importers. The're making a killing.

Good example for this forum is take Nissan Frontier (Navara) ProX4 D/C like an ST-X except Locking diff, Bilstien shocks, Underbody protection Satellite radio, better tires...yes it is a petrol so add a few grand for diesel for the excercise. Price- shop around there you'll get one for less than 30G on the road.

On a side note, lately there has been a bit of noise about removing geo blocking on some US sites as we have a free trade agreement with US which may very well contravien this.
 
The 8 to 12" lifted trucks running 35+tyres that hang out 6"past the guards.that and walmart shopping This must be the only place in the world you can do that...
