Hi all, got a question about turbo bearings, ive just pulled the intake pipe off to check the turbo, spins nicely but does seem to have a bit of movement side to side id say close to .5-1.0mm. Going by the info i can find thats a problem. It has been suffering with loss of power lately,i have found a few other issues that have now been fixed but its still been sluggish. Pretty much a stock motor, no intercooler, no chip, recently fitted a catch can. Also just noticed the lower connector hose from the tubro to intake has gone very soft.
Anyway how can i fix it? can i replace the bearings or am i up for a new turbo?
Thanks

Some turbos have bearing kits available. Your garage doesn't say what kind of motor you have, so I couldn't go look it up.

Worst case you'd want to have a chat with Forefront Industries (a member on this forum). If that's too far out of your price range, Niss4x4.com.au may have one off a wreck.

Going for a kit would be the preferred method in terms of reliability and price. You could get the model of the turbo (it's written on the turbo) and Google a bearing kit for it.

Hi Old Tony, sorry its a 2003 Zd30.
Ill have a look and about to order a boost gauge aswell.

Are they hard to rebuild? mine is a 2.5 but figured id ask here for future reference, and im sure its worth doing if its not too hard a job.

Can't be too hard, if they can put it on Youtube:

Okay, maybe my first statement isn't quite accurate: sometimes there are things on Youtube that the average person would find a little difficult.
