If you run positive to that switch it will give a dead short. Run red (+) to the battery and run black (-) to that switch. When the the bonnet is open the contact from the switch will connect with chassis ground (-). Run a fuse on the red.
Bods is bang on.

just make sure that the body of the switch has a good ground ( earthed well to the panel where you mount it)
