Hi guys

I'm new to the forum. I thought I would try to start a bit of a debate.

I have just bought my 04 d22 zd30. I love every but of it. But I have noticed one thing. I want to spend my hard earned on things to make it my own.

I would like to buy a snorkel for it but I have a real problem spending over $400 for a piece of molded plastic. I know you get what you pay for. But has anyone actually tried the $150-$160 eBay snorkel. If so what's your opinion.

Cheers for anyone willing to help.

dont know about the ebay ones but if there no good get 1 from a wreckers,a snorkel is a snorkel, doesnt exactly wear out so second hand for snorkels isnt a big deal

I say YES...
I have 1 on my old LN106 Hilux and it is the exact same as my mates safari on his LN106 only it has Hilux moulded on the side.
I also put one on a my mates new Hilux, both snorkels off ebay are quite good quality and the plastics are no different to the stock Nissan one i put on my D22.

The only thing is the layout's are a bit sketchy and you need to check to make sure the holes on the snorkel line up with the layout. personally i have re marked each one i have done before i install it.

i got one on my near new d22 and id say yes. only downside is it takes up the room where a second battery would sit in the engine bay. Fitment is really good no gaps or anything.
Id say go for it

Thanks. It's good to talk to people who not only have one but have installed them as well.

How hard is it to fit the thing as well. I reckon I will be shitting my self when it comes time tO cutting holes. I guess I will be back On the forum getting some more advice.

hahaha yep you def get nervous taking a hole saw to your car, but as long as you check the layout you will be fine. They really arnt that hard.

Thanks again mate. I might have to put u on speed dial "1" when I take the plunge. I'm sure I will have a question.

pretty easy to fit the template wasnt the best but it did the job after remarking it as said above and sitting there with a 3" holes is a bit nerve racking.

i might make a how to thread on installing one of the ebay ones. hopefully it might help some people like myself

I live south of sydney mate just past wollongong.

Isn't there a thread already on this exact same subject?
I vaguely remember someone posting info of his fitting of an ebay snorkel.
Pictures would be excellent if you can manage it?

hey guys.

i ended up buying a snorkel. I was up at smithfield to buy a roof basket from the tigerz11 distributor. Anyway talking to the guy and they ended up having the snorkels for $68 bought one on the spot. They didnt have it in stock but will hopefully get it soon. I think they are the same as the ebay ones.

I will let you know how it goes. And i will probably take you up on that help. Whats the beer currency on installing a snorkel.

Any one interested they are on there web site at that price.
