Hi All, got a 2004 zd30 that lost power up a hill. Stopped at the top of said hill and lots of white smoke, exhaust smells of unburnt diesel, and the engine shaking hard at idle.

Starts and runs, but rough. When revved up to about 2500rpm it smooths out some but lots of white smoke still. No bubbles in coolant and the oil looks fine.

It’s not worth messing around for ever on it, I’ll check compression and maybe injectors? Any other obvious ideas?

White (really white) smoke with a strong diesel smell means you've got an injector that's either leaking or it's firing excessively. Usually the former. Injector cleaner might clean it up, and it's worth trying, but sticking a bottle in the tank and praying for 100km isn't the best way. I'd get some Liqui Moly Diesel Purge, start removing hoses from your fuel filter and have at it.
