Clarion vx400a

I got a Clarion vx400a installed in my D40 over the weekend and love it. The only problem with it is the radio (had the same problem with the factory radio) the reception is crap always cutting in and out and its never clear. If i but a FM booster on it will this fix my problem?

Are you in a bad reception area? Are you listening to low output stations? There are a heap of factors that could create bad reception issues.

However if it's cutting in and out on all stations I'd be checking out the cabling between the head unit and the aerial first, then the aerial. The same problem across two units would indicate reception received is shit or reception sent to the unit is shit. A FM booster may fix the problem but it may also boost the shit in a bad signal, or just not do anything, check what is there first.
