Got under the car to check those switches on the transfer case as my warning lamp comes on as soon as 4wd is selected and first plug I pulled I see this... Thoughts on this causing the problem or should I dig deeper n remove the whole switch

Sounds like you have a D40 I only drive an old tractor with two sticks so unsure what's wrong sorry. Someone should come along soon with an idea.

That's to say 4wd is engaged, unless it's different to the d22?

I just fixed up all my switches recently and discovered even the oldest d22s have it

The connector looks a little suspect but doesn't appear to be fully compromised. It's worth cleaning up and making sure the connection is still viable and go from there - you'd have to do that anyway, to ensure that the thing was in good order.

I think the connector is ok but the black wire being exposed I reckon would be causing problems..!
Is it ok to extend the wire?.. Cutting it won't leave enough to plug back in..!
