I have a Spanish built 2010 D40 ST-X 6 speed manual and had a major diff issue on the weekend. Driving down the road when I heard a noise & when I looked under the vehicle & found that oil was coming out of a hole in my rear diff.

Does anyone know the specifications for the rear diff as the car is in Sydney & I’m not? The mechanic has asked:
- Ratio
- ABS
- Slipped or fixed diff

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. Gee, that hamster didn't want to stay in there any more did it?

We do need to know if it's a petrol engine and if it's 2WD or 4WD. Most ST-X models were limited slip in the rear diff (the front diff was "open" ).

However, assuming it's the diesel 4WD: the diff is a M226 with either a 3.692:1 or 3.538:1. It's most likely the 3.538:1, with 46 teeth on the drive gear and 13 on each pinion. If it's the higher ratio, it will have 48 teeth on the drive gear.
