Hi all my names Ryan from good old tassie I just purchased a 2010 d40 tai built so I figured out Navara with turbo diesel engine I have come from a grand vitara that was a nightmare turbo diesel for 4 years and I am hoping this is a better vehicle to me yet I’m starting to have buyers remorse already I have had it a week and found out the heater doesn’t work man sold to me had heap of work done to it egr delete and dyno tuned hard Inlet pipes fitted so I’m thinking of removing egr plate and putting hole in it to get check engine light to come off and I’m guessing I need to do something with the coolant lines by what I’m reading so far from the egr cooler ??? Any advise would be great I got a nudge bar to go on it no brackets so going to make them as everyone seems to be different and I have some weird wiring going on under bonnet with extra large relays I have never come across before that’s a next month job to sort out oh and I’m on the lookout for a rear head rest it’s missing one how do you lose just one???? Any how this is my project daily driver I will tinker with it when I can and upgrade parts when money allows

If the engine light's coming on I'd try to get the code first, before trying to fix other stuff. The 2010 D40s didn't have an EGR flow sensor if my memory is correct, that came later.

However, it had an EGR tube that went from the exhaust manifold around the front of the motor through the EGR cooler to the back end of the EGR valve. The cooler had two hoses which fed coolant through the cooler. Check that there are two hoses attached and that one of them is connected to the firewall at the back of the engine bay.

If there's no connection from the EGR cooler to the firewall, I'll go get the route for my heater hoses and post 'em up. There is the possibility that the previous owner disconnected the heater matrix inside due to leaking - which means the hose from the EGR cooler should go to a joiner and onto another hose which should connect to the engine.

Thanks for info well it didn’t make it a week before engine seized solid hydro locked pretty much destroyed itself so heater problem may be resolved hopefully with the new engine that’s being fitted this week talk about a kick In the nuts I certainly got bitten cost me more for new engine than I paid for vehicle but oh well hopefully I will have a reliable comfortable vehicle when I get it back

Hi Tony just for your records it does have a egr sensor in it so needs to have a cable to delete egr with the plate or a 10 mm hole in it to satisfy the ecu. Secondly new engine fixed the heater wonderfully just in time for the summer heat now got to get my a/c sorted as it don’t get very cold hoping just needs a bit of a gas fill up I do appreciate your time Thankyou
