I have pretty much read everyones comments regarding navara D40 issues. My 07, manual is yet to replace the original clutch with 130K on the clock, But the following has been fixed under warranty,
Full replacment of timing chain, idlers, gears, oil pump.
New rims as the originals were faulty.
Roof had to be repainted because of rust around the windscreen.

When the clutch gives way I'll be chasing a solid flywheel, HD clutch.
Very poor and won't be buying another one.
To me 4.2ltr Patrol coil wagon are more of a HD, 4WD truck, more reliable and easier to fix, unfortunatly the are hard to find.

My second clutch is gone - first on at 65,000 k's, replaced under warranty, second one at 88,000 k's.

Gotta love nissan quality !

Another clutch issue

My clutch is on its way out, there is no missing that issue after 45k !
General thoughts are solid flywheel hd clutch .....
Any recommendations on brands ?

Mine started a knocking sound at 60,000 k's nursed for about another 5000k's then replaced the Dual Mass flywheel, which was making the noise, as the two plates were detaching.. And clutch was almost burnt out..

Now i have a Exedy Single mass flywheel and a Heavy Duty Clutch. No probs so far..

I personally (if it's not under warranty) put a Exedy SMFW and HD Clutch in your car.. It's cost over 2 grand, but worth it..

My 2 cents, anyway.. :)

@ Nissan nut, you put in both excedy flywheel and clutch ? Because my next question was going to be did people get rid of the double mass fly also ?

A mate suggested excedy but wasn't sure on the flywheel ?

Cheers for your help people's

My 2010 6sp D40 kingCab has now done 131,000klms without a clutch problem. Maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe its the way I drive (like a little old lady). Anyway, all good so far.

Good to hear. I think it was after about mid 2011 Thai King Cabs came out with SMF's. Could of been earlier, hence your good clutch longevity.

If you drive a Spanish and Thai built truck back to back you will pick the difference.

I havent really herd of any clutch issues in any of the later models, 2010 on all seem pretty good.

My 2010 ST which my brother in-law now owns, has over 120'000km on it and is still has the stock clutch.

I've got clutch shudder from 30kms on it going to complain for a new one on its checkup at 1000kms they beleive they fixed it in this model with a solid flywheel

Might i suggest that some people (some without noticing they do it) have a habbit of resting their feet on the clutch while driving, even just a little, more so when they are off road. i know of a few girls do it especially when smaller in stature, i think its a security blanket type reaction.

Hi Navara drivers,
I have done my clutch for the 2nd time. Does anyone out there know of a good after market brand that might give me better ability than the Nissan one?
cheers

Excedy. Solid flywheel conversion. But there are plenty of clutch specialists out there who can sell you a seolid flywheel/organic plate conversion kit.

That being said, there is nothing that will stop a clutch from getting destroyed if a driver abuses it.

cheers DOC,
IS that EXEDY or EXCEDY?
I can locate the Nissan Navara D22 Clutch Kit Yd25 Zd30
I take it this is what I am looking for?
cheers

Major clutch issues

I have a 2012 d40 owned since new now i got 20000 klms on clock,i since bought a camper trailer weighs 500 kg and my nav struggles to take off at all while towing that hate to see it with a 2500 kg boat or van on it

Might be worth trying a different driving style. My 2008 has hit 90K on the original clutch, and I tow my 2.5T van all over the place. Rarely does a take-off require anything more than a few additional revs to get moving.
