If you search old posts you'll find the original photos of the seal job I did under the bonet..
With this new snorter being bigger, I had the chance to service the rubber that seals bonnet to cooler- this had become hard from laying up against the intercooler for the past 60'000k's .. did its job though!
Now looking for rubber to replace the old, I stumbled onto the "silicone matting"! Perfect I thought buttttt- "bring your check book and first born$$$" ..
Now whilst looking for silicone sheets I stumbled on silicone foam sheets, better for my use, still pricey!
Ok, silicone foam rubbers are not rubber i find out! Pure chemical structure "if that's the right terminology"..
Now searching silicone foam rubbers- i find those foam mats you get for camping etc that lock together for $10 a pack at bunnings and superbleep, are this type of chemical foam "rubber".. ok, more reaserch on the EVA they are made from and I find out, It's an insulation, Self extinguishing/fire proof, heat- cold- fuel resistant and flexible. Great, and cheap lol
A little thick, but Bunnings do have these solid "no holes" mats that are blue in colour and about 10mm thick but are a little too firm...
Then I find EVA's little brother - NBR, basically the same deal, fire proof, insulating etc but softer again and more flexible "I guess EVA little sister
" .. nice, and thinner- 8mm to10mm ish is easy to find ..
Try $8 for a roll from Kmart lol nice...
Now the story of EVA and NBR is a little shocking- EVA has it SPECIAL USE, and WRONGLY found its way into the fitness world as flooring and YOGA mats.. well, EVA is a carcinogenic and now combine that with body sweat and rolling around on yoga mats they where killing themselves!
True story, and that how E.V.A's little sister came to be! Mommy and daddy scientists had a new child
that wouldn't kill you getting fit ...
So this is what I used and are trying out on sealing up the new snozzle job.. Thank you Kmart
