History
I really don't know much before I imported it but I can speculate this much: Japanese road flares are required and have a 2-year shelf life. A flare dated 2007 suggests that it may have been parked since 2009. TJM bumper has a sale date sticker of 1996 inside it. And the truck had 146,000 kms on it (90,000 miles). Seat covers, floor mats (3 sets) and flawless upholstery suggest a single owner who took care of the interior. Unfortunately the frame and rear of the bed suffered serous salt damage that was trapped by black cover-up spray.
Modifications
Exterior
for the short term, chemical treatment and frame caps will buy me some time on the frame. In the long term I think I want to stretch a wd21 coil sprung frame and put it under the truck for better flexing and softer ride.
Interior
None yet.
In-Car Entertainment
speakers are crackly when they work and Japanese mini-disc player is not gonna cut it. Will need to get 4 new speakers and a cheap Bluetooth head unit for now but maybe a NAV screen in the future.
Under the Hood
Coming soon, 11mm compensated fuel pump to support more boost than I need. After that, a different turbo and intercooler!
Suspension
Not sure about lifting... I'm short and I like the functional bed/tailgate height.
Wheel and Tyre
I plan to go 32" with some 235/85r16 tall skinny tires.
presently it has some aftermarket 15's with some tiny 26" 205/70r15 tires
