    Tire rotation and flipping

I can't recall whether I used them in snow and if I had, I really couldn't say because I rarely drive in snow. I didn't have any complaints concerning wet weather driving and although they had a relatively hard life, I had expected them to last longer. They were replaced with BFG KO2's which I...

    Tire rotation and flipping

When I had all terrain Mickey Thompson's, I flipped those and had no issues.

    Oil filter removal?

I get to it with much difficulty from the wheel well, pulling the plastic liner back a little. When it's off i turn it upright and wriggle it out through the top of the engine bay, pulling aside any hoses that are in the way. Always nervous that I am going to drop it and splatter oil everywhere...

Thai D40 ST Having Trans Problems

I have the same vehicle and apart from what "I consider" a design flaw with there being no torque converter lock up in 4th, the transmission has always functioned well, with no issue similar to yours. I believe that the transmission holds about 12 litres of fluid and unless you do a full flush...

    Brake problems with D40

Well seeing as this thread has been resurrected after many years, I can say that my pads, discs, shoes and drums have not been replaced since the vehicle was purchased new in 2011 and have travelled well in excess of 200,000ks.

    Noise under hard acceleration

Mine did the same thing as Old Tony except the car was going in for a service before our holiday and I asked the mechanic to check the manifold to turbo gasket. I was told that they couldn't replicate the noise so no real problem. Coming home from holiday, the gasket blew out and the DPF failed...

radio upgrade and solution for stupid rubber bonnet mounts

Not sure about the D23 but many a D40 have an annoying bonnet squeak which is caused by the bonnet latch. The solution being to wind a few layers of insulation tape around the bar to which the latch holds. I need to periodically replace the tape when it wears through and the squeak returns.

    Automatic transmission fluid

If just draining the pan, my 5 speed 2010 D40 takes 4 litres. I have measured what comes out each time so that I can refill with the same quantity. The brand that I use won't be available in your neck of the woods.

    Clunck when changing gears

Half the battle is sourcing bearings not manufactured in China. Even some of the bearing shops can't say or "don't know" where their stock is made. Maybe there are good ones around but I prefer not to take the risk.

    Clunck when changing gears

Not sure what it is with the D40 uni's. I have had to replace both front and rear on my main shaft. The originals were not long lived.

    Dpf delete sensors? Remap?

If my memory is correct, Auggie's sensors are cheaper on an exchange basis? The mechanic that I previously used didn't know if my cat was also buggered so I went the more expensive remap route with 3" exhaust and high flow cat. More oomph than stock but definitely less than the chip I removed...

Who rides bikes and what are they

Bigger engine than the Bambino. I remember an older kid at school bragging about his Fiat sports car. Not being old enough to drive, I was impressed until I finally saw his beat up Bambino. Not sure what he thought made it a sports car?

Who rides bikes and what are they

Yes, clearly math is not a strong point. I forgot that you tow with the bike. Thinking Goldie had a side car, hence the 3 wheels. That's my excuse anyway. I found the car that used a bike engine. It was not a Suzuki but the Honda N360.which apparently had a massive 354cc engine. I can still...

Who rides bikes and what are they

Well if Goldy is suffering, what about poor Veronica and she pulls as well? I'm imagining Goldy to have puffy lips like Private Benjamin but not so much like Elise Elliot. While math has never been a strong point, Goldy with her 1.5lt is heading toward a ton (810kg) and Veronica with her 2.5lt...

I thought it may have been Veronica's romantic interest.

Side Step fixed bolts snapped off.

I damaged one of mine so one side with and one without. One mounting bolt broke and I would have no hope getting a drill in there but it would be OK without one bolt. When I hit mine, it put a small dent in the bottom of the front guard. So while you could treat them as sacrificial, they offer...
