I have same and mechanic said if it’s not that loud and you change gearbox oil ( I use Castrol 80 vmx gear oil ) I do it every 30000 ks and it silky smooth. He also said nice gentle gearchanges and should be ok . It’s gear selector that problem in mine . Regards peter

The early ones blew up motors . You have to use engine flush on these motors as journals block up . I have a 2006 d22 3litre and it’s powerfull and economical 28 mpg. I have had 5 hiluxs and this Nissan is the best car I have owned .

It may be under back seat as there is access to fuel tank under a plate . Don’t know for sure but that’s where I would look
