    Stereo upgrade - Subwoofer connections...

OK this one is for the audio enthusiasts... I recently upgraded the stereo in my 2008 STX D40. I ditched all the factory stuff and fitted a new head unit, tweeters with a dedicated crossover, and front and rear speakers. Nothing crazy about it - just a cheap & cheerful upgrade. Currently there...

Catch can oil in to diesel tank

The fuel pump doesn't need diluted sump oil to "help" it. You could however make your own return system from the catch can back to the sump.

    Overheating problem

At 240,000 kms...if u do pull the head, I'd fit a new one regardless. There's plenty of aftermarket heads at different price points. If your head has repeatedly been too hot, it's not worth refitting it. But make sure you figure out exactly what was/is causing the higher temps before...

Need help solving weird electrical issue

You said your ABS light has been on for a while... And you're getting 4x4 pictogram weirdness... And the Speedo is getting unreliable input.... Might be worth checking your wheel speed sensors and connections at each corner? (I'm assuming your Nav would be pre-stability control)

D40 Navara 2008 Thai timing chain question

As far as I know, all D40's have a simplex lower chain (fuel pump, vac pump, balancer etc) .....and duplex upper chain. I think the "original" YD25 they refer to might have been from a vehicle that pre-dates D22's & D40's...? I have a 2008 Spain build D40 & can confirm 100% the lower chain is...

    STX 550 hardwiring aftermarket camera

I bought a kit from Supershit auto, made by Gator. I ran the video cable and the trigger wire along existing wiring on the d/s chassis rail & up thru an existing hole in the floor pan. The camera is on a bracket inside the tailgate and it pokes through a hole in the black plastic section. The...

    Spare tyre size dilemma...

Yeah I'm sure the mainlanders probably laugh when we say "remote" or "stranded" or "a long way from home" The distances are not huge in Tas, but the West Coast can be very quiet and lonely when you need help.

    Spare tyre size dilemma...

Yeah very true. In theory, if you had a spare that was very close to the RC of the other three tyres, you could under or over inflate it to manipulate the rolling circumference. But nearly impossible to measure accurately knee deep in shit at 10 o'clock at night in the bush

    Spare tyre size dilemma...

No centre diff lock fitted, or plans to...(??) Not sure how that's possible? As you said, front auto Lokka should be passive in 2H. (Although, I've read they can sometimes get a little "catchy" in some vehicles, for lack of a better word, during normal 4x2 driving. Nothing bad, just how they...

    Fuel Additive

I use Aderco because I can get it from work. Very small dosage also. It's awesome stuff. Proven in the heavy transport industry to reduce emissions, increase torque, stabilise dodgy fuel, lower EGT's, reduces carbon/soot production etc It's similar to one or more of the Liquimoly diesel products.

    Water temp gauge not working

A bluetooth adapter for the OBD2 port and a smartphone app.

4 wheel drive mode, on full lock sometimes makes clicking noise

As Tony said, likely a CV joint getting tired. It's not uncommon for the rubber boots to fail (happened on my Nav). Once this happens water & dirt will get in there and start reducing the life of the joint. It's nothing to panic about - I've seen buggered CV joints on hatch-backs go for years...

    Water temp gauge not working

I thought shit temp gauges was actually a standard Navara feature ?? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

1998 Nissan Narvara blowing white smoke on start up.

White smoke at start up is usually failing glow plugs. Does the smoke slowly disappear as it gets up to operating temp? White smoke can either be water in the combustion chamber (accompanied by a steamy white exhaust)....or....if the fuel is almost completely unburned under low temp conditions...

Suction control valve, and fuel rail pressure sensor?? same same?? OR???

I believe there is two SCV types, A long type and a short type. Diesel specialist could prolly tell you via a VIN search....or grab a tort bit & carefully remove it & measure the length & take a photo before ordering. But... Excessive black smoke is usually a loss of air (boost) not a loss of...

    Fuel pump failing?

How old is the fuel filter? First thing I'd be changing. If it's got more than one, change both. If you're driving around with bugger-all fuel in the tank & putting the boot into it up a hill, you might be gulping air & causing the loss of power? The other day I was pushing my luck with the...

    Spare tyre size dilemma...

Lokka, not locker. No user control over engagement behaviour. (apart from throttle input). Would be unlikely to tolerate different diameter tyres, but I should prolly ask 4wd Systems. Thanks for the long list of places you've been. I'll never get those 2 mins back. Not sure what food I'm...

    replacing a tub

I have successfully swapped a tub from a YD VSK to a V9X550 and the ali tray from the V9X over to the YD. Not overly challenging but did take longer than expected because,as usual, it's all the little fiddly things like wiring & fuel filler that slow your down. There's different flexible...

    Spare tyre size dilemma...

Most off road trips are somewhere in Tassie, so in theory nothing is very far from a repair shop. But you'd be amazed how "remote" it can get down here sometimes. It might only be 100kms to a workshop, but it'll be over 2 mountain ranges on a goat track that takes hours & hours y'know. Next year...
