Anyone else ever turn their clutch friction plate to fairy floss?
Yes I tow heavy loads, yes I live in hilly country. It went from burning smell on a sunday, to complete loss of engagement on tuesday, uphill. No real slippage in between.
It is an auto I am guessing (?), as it seems excessive to me..... I have a manual yd25 (2010 Spain), I carry about 2-300kgs in tools and oil/fuel cans as standard (often more once you throw in 100kg or so of excavator parts and/or steel supplies) and also have solar panel on 2 roof racks on cab...
Or take your the tatty ones to an upholsterer - they can use them as a template to make you new ones out of a material/fabric of your choosing.....could most likely emulate the factory originals for that matter too.
Interesting ..... I also have this flashing and have been ignoring figuring it to be clockspring until I have spare time 🤣🤣.

I love the idea of electric motor torque at every...
Maintenance is the key to rarely fixing stuff......I am a fitter machinist and am continually telling machine operators the little thing they saw being weird weeks ago is the reason the machine is now out of operation - the prevention is always cheaper and less time consuming than the fix!
Fits...
I know lots have issues with them, but I have a 2010 d40 navara pushing 320k kms and it runs great. A lot of variables to consider when talking wear and tear, but I find for a small motor diesel it is a very high output power which can put strain on a lot in the chain of events that is a motor...
Steam will dissipate almost instantly, you pretty well have to be watching the tailpipe to see it. Smoke will waft away in a cloud/patch and be seen in the air for longer.
