    D40 STARTER MOTOR

    Replaced the flywheel,clutch etc on 2008 D40 YD25. Already had a new OEX starter motor to fit as well as I thought it was the problem. After fitting the starter again after new clutch it did the same thing as before i.e crunching and finally not working at all. Returned it to Repco on warranty...

    Ive replaced the clutch and clutch throw out bearing as per the manual. I find that the lever has some free play, is this normal.

    Can anyone give me a suggestion? Should I leave it or take the clutch and flywheel off again and replace seal?

    So I've replaced the rear engine oil seal but, put in back to front. Realized my error and removed it. As I did I put a slight nick in the outside rim of the gasket by pulling it with small pointy nose pliers. Put it back in and installed new flywheel and clutch. Now I'm worried the seal may...

    Thanks, have a new flyhweel and clutch. Just wondered what could have caused the damage. Have a new starter as well.

    Finally removed the flywheel and the pictures show why it wouldn't start. This is not original its an Exedy single mass, which a lot of people rave about. Now I know what the problem was, what would have caused the 200 mil of teeth to be broken. Notice that only half of the thickness has be removed.

    Yes, and theres another one Ive been trying remove on opposite side. That will make 12 all up. Bloody hell they're a bitch of a thing.I can get a number of extensions and a socket on them but so far just won't budge.

    Ive located a bolt at the top which attaches the breather pipe bracket on the housing, does it need to be removed? If so thats 11 bolts. See photo

    Getting too old for this, have another go at splitting the housing off today, Ive taken the two bolts at 10 and 2, could be one hidden directly at 12.

    Wow, thanks, as Ive already removed 10 bolts. Is there more? How would I get to the top two. Ive so far removed all plugs ,hoses, cross member etc. Thanks for a speedy response Ive only ever removed a box from an old holden so this is a biggy for me. To many aches and pains now try again tomorrow.

    Can I get some info on a 2008 yd25 navara spanish built 4wd manual? Trying to remove the gearbox bellhousing to exchange the clutch. Ive taken out 10 bolts so far, the bugger wont budge. Are there anymore hiding at the top out of sight?
