Hi all, just going through a heap of Troubleshooting steps to rectify why my Alternator is overcharging. The fault is intermittent atm but it can charge up ro 18v + at times and at the moment disconnecting bothe batteries and letting the car sit seems to settle the alt reg for a few days.
These are the current checks ive carried out so far.
- 2 new batteries, last ones were old and one died.
- cleaned and sanded bat terminals.
- cleaned and sanded neg points in engine bay, found 4 in total.
- cleaned - + alternator connections.
- checked and rebedded fuses.
- charged blown light globes.
- assessed wires for corrosion or freys.
- ive just dont a resistance voltage drop test on the Neg and Pos of both batteries. I watched a how to on Youtube and according to this my earth Voltage drop is too high, currently 1.5v but the video is not from a Yd25 D22.
Before i take the car in to the dealer can some one tell me whats an acceptable amount of voltage drop on both Neg and Pos thanks?

Fyi when my Alternator is overhargeing the "batter, Fuel filter' warning lights illuminate and some times the " ABS" will too all at the same time.
Maybe a faulty sensor?
