TD25 vs TD27

Hi folks, I'm putting a TD27 in my early TD25 engined D22. The TD27 is from a 2003 Terrano, so has intercooler, electronic injection pump etc. I'm going to use the TD25 pump, which I'll get rebuilt whilst it's out.

I was going to keep the Terrano Turbo, but it looks smaller than the TD25 one. Any ideas which one is best?

Any other things I should do whilst it's on the bench?
 
first thing is your talking about the TD25T and TD27Ti

i assume your TD25T has mechanical pump not electronic pump. you might be able to get away with just winding up the fuel but it might be better to rebuild it to Td27T specs.

i would keep the turbo's stock. doubtful the TD25T one outputs more flow than the TD27T one.
a few people have worked out what models come with the best turbo but i can't recall which one off hand.
don't forget you will need the VE pump adaptor and dial gauge to set the timing on the pump.
 
Tweak'e, thanks for that information. I have left the TD25T pump for a rebuild with a local diesel specialist (Droitwich Diesel) and explained that it is going onto a Terrano 2.7 turbo engine, so hopefully they will spec it to suit, but I'll ring them back to check.
What do you mean by the VE pump adapter - is that something extra I need to buy?
I've never set up a diesel pump, I have a dual gauge, but wasn't aware the timing was that critical. Is there an online guide or workshop manual you'd recommend for these engines?

get the factory manual.
to set the VE style pumps an adaptor gets fitted to the pump so you can fit a dial gauge and set it correctly.
poor mans way is to go off the marks on pump and engine block, however many ecu motors do not have timing marks so that option may not exist.
