STX 550 Hard Lid Interior Light

Hey guys

Never had the interior light working so replaced the gas struts and it works. Wire from lid attached to top of strut and wire from body attached to bottom of strut. Question is does it turn itself off when the lid is closed. Tried with the tailgate open and its still on?

yes it should the spring should slide over the plastic on the strut to break the circuit
