STX 550 Catch Can

I think the reluctance to install the catch can is due to the limited space in the STX550's engine bay. The V9X is a relatively large motor.

However, the catch can is actually a very simple device. There's a hose that runs from the PCV on the engine to the air intake in front of the turbocharger. The catch can sits in this hose, intercepting the flow. The idea is to remove the oil vapour from the flow so that it doesn't enter the intercooler or the engine.
What I don’t understand is why I’m being told 1hr labour to fit a HPD can and 5-6hrs labour for a vent pro, and some shops flat out refuse to fit the vent pro, will only do the HPD.
From what I can see from the information on here and other forums, the installation is the same, you just need a couple of extra fittings for the vent pro to make it work.
So it’s not that I can’t get anyone to install a catch can, I can’t get anyone to install the Vent Pro, and that’s what’s got me scratching my head, am I missing something here? From what I have seen on line, quite a few people have installed the vent pro on a 550 without too much trouble?
But I think I’ll do it myself, I’ll be removing my front bar so I’ll see if I can fit it somewhere closer to the front of the car, just have to make sure I retain access to the top of the can so I can replace the filter easily

Ill check the pipe size tomorrow and take a pic where i mounted the provent the pipe was 16mm i think it took me a while but could be done in 2 with making the bracket for the provent as well

I brought the bits of mann filters except for the joiners got then of ebay you need 3 joiners 2 for at the provent end 1 to join the pipe from the pcv elbow hope this helps you can ring me 0411795190

Thanks for the photos Steve, as long as it’s sweet to go off the PCV, which appears is what everyone is doing, then that’s all good, I’ll get the pro vent from western filters and go to Rocket industries to get the fittings and maybe some nice braided lines and clamps.
I’ll post some photos up, maybe start a thread on the installation process. And if I get stuck, I might shoot you a message.
Thank you
Moray
Here is the catch can set up on my other car

Thanks for the help today Steve, ended up buying a universal pro vent 200 kit with 19mm fittings and hose. Also got a couple of extra connectors (both straight and a couple of elbows). Kit came with two hoses that step down from 25mm-19mm as well. As soon as my intercooler arrives I’ll have a go at fitting it.
Cheers

Ok, so I’ve been playing with the Nav, took off the front bar and nudge bar, had the nudge bar powder coated, new headlights and globes all round. fitted the Plazmaman intercooler and pipes, and fitted the Pro vent 200. Was a bit of a mission my got it in an mounted.
Just to clarify, the airflow path on the catch can is, enters through top connection and exits through bottom?
There is an arrow on the can indicating this but just wondering is anyone can confirm as I thought it would be the other way round?
Cheers
