Hi everyone, this is a subject I'm revisiting from a while back, the brake pedal on my 2008 Navara is soft, I have replaced the master cylinder twice and installed new brake lines, bled the system over and over and still the pedal is soft.
It always passes the road test here in NZ for the brakes but there is something not right. I did see one post on here where the fella said he had a similar problem and it turned out to be the brake servo/booster? But I can't see it.
Has anyone got any ideas?

do a quick double tap of the brakes and see if it comes up better.

the most common reason i usually see is rear brake drums being worn, or the auto adjusters being worn and consequently the shoes not being adjusted. that means to much travel for the shoes and that shows up in soft feeling brake pedal.

I've got a 2007 and have the same issue here in NZ too. I've replaced front rotors and pads, rear shows and cylinders had my drums machined bled the system and adjusted the shoes. Still a soft pedal. Talked to a few people and they say that's the Navara for you. Thinking of swapping rear axles for ones that have rotors on them. Thoughts 🤔

the other thing is what do you call soft.

many years ago i had a car with soft brakes. brake place replaced almost everything, machined the discs and drums no joy. took it to an old guy who said "go get new drums".
i got some good 2nd hand ones, problem solved.

also with most utes/4wd's i've had is the auto adjusters wear and then stop adjusting, which gives the same sort of pedal. usually have to file them a bit. plus clean the threads. don't lube, anti seize at the most. if you use lube (apart from getting on the shoes) it can make the adjuster to slippery and the arm can undo the adjustment. its like doing up a well lubed bolt with a ratchet. it undoes the bolt on the back swing, you need to hold the bolt a bit. give it a bit of friction so the ratchet can work.
