QD32 sump whats the pipe at back RHS of the sump

Hi swapping out a TD27 for a new Chinese QD32, most things just swap over.
If anyone has a QD32 7 bolt flexplate [ auto flywheel ] please let me know, I want one.
Also on the back RHS of the new QD32 sump there is a pipe sticking straight up to receive a flared fitting,. It seems to go all the way to the bottom of the sump so I am thinking it must be the oil pickup for the oil pump. Is that right and if so where does it get connected to the engine via a pipe.

Thank you very much Wds,,,,,, I laughed when i read your answer, and said to myself " thank goodness for that"
Kinda logical now,, but i had visions of starting the engine with no oil pickup,,, and we all know how that would end.
