I have a 2000 qd32 Navara it's diesel but not turbocharged. I would like to make it turbo. Has anyone had problems putting a turbo in a non turbo rig?
Ben told it can cause a lot of problems!!

Fitting a turbocharger to a diesel engine isn't a huge issue, particularly if you use a Dawes/Tillix valve for a vaned turbo, or just pop in a waste-gate turbo (simpler). You might want someone to change the fuel map so that it's richer (the turbo will lean out the fuel/air mix particularly at higher boost levels). You might even be able to achieve this with an aftermarket chip.

It's not like fitting a turbo to a petrol car or something like a Tesla, which is nearly impossible.

the common upgrade is to fit the turbo gear off a TD27T. its straight bolt on. then you need to connect the oil feed and drain.
there is a few write ups on it.
otherwise you need to go aftermarket. the biggest issue there is how well the manufacture has sized the turbo. some just put whatever turbo they happen to have available. there are some horrible kits out there.
but if you get the turbo roughly right, there is very few problems. diesels love turbo's and they love intercoolers even more.

the main issue is not the turbo, its the fueling. people wind the fuel up to much.
you should always fit an EGT gauge (sensor pre turbo) so you can keep the fueling safe.
