Hey Everyone ,
I'll try and explain it as it was told to me..(I wasn't there) Before it cut out. And now won't crank..
So ,story goes...
He was out bush to rescue someone.., Who was axle deep bogged..
Got them out no dramas ,said his temp got a bit warm ( 2/3 - 3/4 ish) while he was out and about. We'll call it scrub and dub(step)
Nek minnit it just cut out. After he had to reverse out of a spot to avoid a tree stump..Whil still in reverse..& 4x4 L
And since won't crank.. Rig is a 2006 St-X 2.5 YD Turbo diesel..
My observation is..
First thing I noticed was the 'injector light did not come on ,on the dash ,but all the rest did.. Stereo ,lights etc., When turned on.. The engine fan also comes on (Maybe A/C?)
Did a basic on the side of the road job of testing what could be done in the bush with a limited kit of tools (No multimeter ,or test light)
Did the ol' steal the A/C ,horn whatever it was relay and plug it in ,checked fuses by eye etc..
Don't have the manual for it ,downloaded one today ,but no wiring diagram :(
Looked into just buying one ,but none available in Mildura that I could find. As usual..lol
One other thing I noticed is that the big rrr's lights he had fitted a few months back flicker a little bit. Before all this..
So I am suss on the wiring of those..But they were pro fitted by ARB.? And ar still working fine..
Maybe a hack wiring job ,not sure yet..??
So if anyone knows ,or have had a similar issue in the past feel free to let me know what your solution ended up being.. I am also aware that it could be crank sensors and such..
And A/T neutral switch sensor or a plethera of other things..
But I'm not against a point in the right direction.,as it's raining here today and tomorrow ,so the less wet I get the better..

Cheers ,Steve

Also did an ECU wipe ,just to see if it was anything there holding it up ..
But can't tell if it is throwing a code..(wait 3 secs ,pump 5 times in 5 secs..etc..)
The two OBDII things I have don't work on this car.(they're not flash ones)
Battery is solid.. Still green eyed.
And can hear the click inside cabin.,but that's all that happens :(
Was running perfectly before this.
I usually service it for him.. Has only had the car 18 months.
Not sure if the head is dead or if the timing belt has failed..
Don't want to get that involved straight off the bat.
Thanks again.. :D

So.. it got warm to hot, then stopped.

Now won't crank and won't start.

Have you tried to see if you can actually turn the engine by hand?

Hi Phunk
Yes I tried ,wasn't locked up ..just stuck in in 4x4 mode..
Figured it out today ,as I said i'm not a dumb r's .. ;)
And I'll leave this here for anyone else who may come across it...
Problem was the EGI fuse..
On the third 'hidden' fuse box.. The one with IPDM on the right hand side ,behind the obvious one.. ( right from the front ,left from the steering wheel..)
I only found it trying to find the 'Starter relay' which doesn't exist on this model..
It's built in to the ICBM.. (lol ,if you know what I bake bean..)
Got it sorted today..
It was just a fuse.. But troubleshooting is a hooer! ...
Could of been lots of things without a $5000 OBD tool..
But thanks for giving us a shout ,Phunk.. Appreciate it..
It was a long mission trying to figure it out..
But got there in the end.. As a Navara noob..
:saberfighting:
Love you all ,thanks for having a forum.. Where ppl can learn..
Coz otherwise it's $70 per hour.. minimum.. :jackoff:
And possibly just dazzling BS ,not facts..

Cheers ,Steve..:teeth:

But I will also add.. Just for fact of reference to ol' skool ppl who know this rig..
What would you recommend to someone who has an '06 model ,,with no history @ 280K ?
I told him we need to pick off parts that f**k up.. over the next few months..
Crank ,cam sensor ,turbo ..?
What is the most frequent thing to die :suicide: ??
(on a YD25turbo)

So we can get on it before it drops off..

Thanks again..
Steve.. (y)

Thanks for the update mate, stuff like this we all need.

Judging by majority of the posts I've seen in my time, I'd prob put Timing Chain at the top of the list of known issues.

Then a weak as chips head that will crack at any sign of temp climbing.

You know, just basic cheap stuff to repair....
