Hi all

I recently bought a 2008 Navara and I’m having egr fault issues.
The truck runs and drives fine but I had a perm P0409 fault. So I’ve replaced the egr (non genuine) and it’s now become intermittent.
Connections to the egr, maf and throttle body are all clean.
Any thoughts/ideas? The ecu/egr doesn’t need calibration after replacement does it?

thanks

Mike

The 2008 Navara doesn't have a flow sensor on the EGR, so if it's got a fault, it's because the valve itself isn't responding properly (I got this error when I unplugged my EGR valve, 2009 model). If you've checked the connectors and the battery terminals are nice and clean, you could try to run a jumper lead from the battery negative to the body of the EGR valve (just to test if there's no good ground on the valve). First thing I'd try though is to get the codes cleared. If you have a bluetooth OBD adapter you could do this yourself with an Android app like Torque, but otherwise you could ask a mechanic's workshop to plug in and clear the code for you.
