Hi. I have a D40 with a low fuel pressure problem. The engine will start eventually if I prime it under the filter. White smoke for a minute or so the runs fine. Not in limp mode. It seems that the fuel gravity feeds back into the tank when not running. Any suggestions appreciated.

It sounds like an air leak. Fastest way to figure it out is to overprime the system so that diesel starts coming out of the leak.

If it's the filter: check the water sensor, it might not be seated properly.

Hoses can crack and clamps can be overtightened causing pinching of the hose (and creating a leak).
