It's not a real surprise, no shop wants really to be caught out installing an illegal lift.
If you ask them to have the lift certified (this does cost extra, the car has to be checked over by an engineer and a particular driving test done in it) they might be more likely to do it, BUT that doesn't guarantee certification, and without that certification, the cops could give you a canary for the car until you drop it back down.
