Going up to the cape later in the year. I want a trusted mechanic to go over the ute with a fine tooth comb.......... Dont want to have any dramas when on the trip. I live on the north side of brissy, if anyone knows a good mechanic that really know there stuff when it comes to Nav's please give them a plug .

Can't help with your search, but I've taken to DIY-ing everything I can, I do this for 2 reasons, 1.) I know how to fix it if I'm ever in need and 2.) I know (some of) the places it'll go wrong, and will spot warning signs earlier than if I sent it off to get someone else to do it.

Plus I trust myself more than I trust a mechanic, I know less than they do, but I have a very good interest in doing the right thing for my truck.

Also, buy quality gear, in general it'll wear better than cheap crap.

But you know all this already.

i agree with doing things yourself but not everything is able to be checked yourself, like pressure testing, valve clearances / adjustments etc etc

Exactly, I like to DIY as much as possible, so I have the knowledge, and I have no idea about the finer points, like tolerances and clearances, pressures, etc.

You want a quality diesel mechanic to have a look. And if possible, one who's into his 4wd's

Me and my mate already do all of the servicing on it, but just want some one that works on navaras all the time to go over it....... give me some piece of mind. Any ideas who I could take it to??

A GOOD diesel mechanic that deals with 4wds is your best bet. That's the criteria you should be using.

Nissan deals with navs all the time, you should take it to them.

mate if you have time, and if no one has any recommendations, i would do a cruise past a couple of DIESEL specialists.
If you see a driveway full of 4x4's and passenger cars, your looking good. Then maybe have a chat to them and see what you think from there.
IF you see an empty shed or just see big heavy machinery chances are they wont know the finer details of your NAV.

where about are you? i know there's a great one in Brisbane north side called "on and offroad 4x4" hes does alot of race setups and still reasonably priced.
