Gear stick knob removal

Hey guys,

I'm trying to get the boot off my gear stick to replace it but am struggling to get the knobs off.
I don't want to twist or rip at them too much without knowing which way they come off in case i mess something up.

Anyone know if they screw off or are glued on?

I have not done it in a d22 but id put some money on the fact that they Unscrew counter-clockwise ( lefty/loosey)
if they have never been unwound before they will certainly be tight.. some type of glue would certainly be keeping it solid
try going a little tighter(righty/tighty) before unscrewing or give the knob a solid tap with a hammer on the top maybe?

I believe its a screw type gear knob.

They both will screw off with a little muscle, just be sure to add a drip of Loctite back on them when you put it back together otherwise they can and will turn slightly.
