Gear Box Removal

Hi all, I’ve just done a motor rebuild on my yd25 d22, started it up to find the rear main is leaking even though it was replaced, so my question is, is it easier to remove the engine again and is removing the gear box a easier option ? Reason I ask is I had mine out of my gu patrol and had to re shape fire wall to remove. Was wonder if this is the case with the Nav ?

The gearbox is more straightforward, but working underneath the vehicle is not a lot of fun, a transmission jack will make it much easier too.
