So my belt started making weird noises. on inspection it had jumped 1 rib forward and cut the front rib off, that was the noise,
I pulled the damaged belt off and spun all pullies, they all seemed fine except clutch pulley on alternator was a bit suss.
A quick trip to town I bought a new serpentine belt and clutch pulley and all was hunkey dorey.
500km later it has done the same again, belt has one rib cut off.
Anyone have any suggestions? Tensioner looks ok and belt is tight.

Check your pulley alignment, not unheard of for someone to have fitted the wrong alternator or tensioner.

i had a vehicle that had a 2 piece harmonic balancer which started to seperate and pull belt out of allignement.. some idlers have a hard plastic cover which could be cracked , check you havnt got a loose mounting bolt on alternator, aircon pump ,, worn out tensioner which is missaligned or worn bearing in idler pulleys

I have ordered a new tensioner. Hopefully that fixes the problem, but will certainly check all pulleys again.
