Out of curiosity, does it still roll? even if you put the clutch in to the floor and the car isn't in gear, does it roll forward or back?

So YD25 then (2.5 litre diesel).

Not that I have any idea of what is wrong with it, but there are a few different engines in the D22, all with their own characteristics and particular foibles. So it is helpful to specify.
