Gday everyone new to the page, this website has helped out a lot before so hopefully someone get point in the right direction! Put a new turbo on my yd2.5 d22 hi flow…. After doing so took it for a drive got warm up to 94 on the highway and up hills, but I sit at the lights for a couple of minutes it’ll drop down to 79degrees! I’ve put a new thermostat when doing the turbo but it has bigger radiator, bigger intercooler, 3”-4” exhaust, snorkel, new coolant temp sensor and fan clutch. I’m stuck on what has happed! It down on power but took the boost T off as it was leaking so I’ve got all the power? It has k&n filter and new maf sensor. Last thing to do is new glow plugs….Anything would help cheers

Yeh that does make sense I’ll put the boost up and see if that helps, but still don’t understand why if I sit at the lights it drops temp down to 79c

its the thermostat. either the thermostat temp rating is to low or its not closing fully. the thermostat is there to keep the engine warm when your not burning much fuel, ie sitting at the lights.
not sure with Nissan but we have trouble with Toyota because Toyota thermostat temp is start of opening where as aftermarket is fully opened at 88c. so a 88c aftermarket thermostat opens earlier than a stock Toyota 88c thermostat.

Appreciate the help I wonder if I put the factory thermostat back in because would make sense as that was the only thing apart from the turbo I changed cheers it says it opens at 83c
