2010 D40 bonnet gas strutts?

Can I fit gas strutts to the bonnet of D40 2010?

Yes you can. I fitted a set last month. Search eBay ... I paid about $40.

i remember taking out the bonnet holder arm as it was jamming up within the strut.

As soon as you work out which way the bonnet side brackets sit ( I uploaded pictures here a long while ago for somebody else) it'll just be a case of undoing the nuts and redoing them up with the brackets there

Any undue stress on the bonnet hinges?

Yeah @Trex4x4, struts have been on long term and nah, nothing at all to report.. the two gas struts lift the bonnet easily yet the weight of it easily closes it after you get it going.

Just do a Google image search ... "D40 bonnet struts". There are any number of photographs. That's what I did when I was researching these things before buying.
